Welcome to the Ehrlich Research Group at the University of Michigan. We advance the population science of global aging and sensory health, combining rigorous data collection with interdisciplinary insights from epidemiology, demography, social sciences, and clinical medicine. Our research focuses on how societies can adapt to aging populations, with a substantive emphasis on health, economics, and well-being in the US and in low- and middle-income contexts. In addition to leading the Longitudinal Study of Health and Ageing in Kenya (LOSHAK), our work explores sensory health - with a focus on vision and eye health - as a lens to understand aging, health, and well-being. Through the Michigan Sensory Health and Aging Research Collaborative (Mi-SHARC), we aim to bridge theory, data, and policy to improve health equity and well-being for populations worldwide.
